Hi there Bloggy friends! The kind people at Raw Revolution sent me a package of bars to try out and some to give to you! According to their website – “Raw, living foods are clean, and have higher nutrient content than cooked food. Processed foods such as protein isolates and grain based fillers are acidic and cause fermentation in the body. Raw Organic foods are closest to their natural state, bringing us closer to healing ourselves and the global ecology.” The company was started by a mom who was a registered nurse and wanted an alternative to sugary, junky snacks for her son! They have a lot of yummy flavors.
Looking at the spread of bars I couldn’t decide where to start, but I tried three of the bars over the past several days, starting with the Tropical Mango. The texture of these bars is very moist and almost cake like and this one has a wonderful mango flavor and has some large slivers of nuts in it. It is a very dense bar so it goes a long way to fill you up. I had this one for breakfast and it kept me full for several hours. The best part is the minimalistic ingredient list, check it out: dates, cashews, almonds, mango, organic sprouted flax seeds& mango essence. That’s it!
I had a Hazelnut & Chocolate one next and it was very brownie like and had the same nice, moist texture. It was delicious and just chocolaty enough to subdue my sweet tooth. I will definitely be keeping some of the chocolate ones on hand for when I need a chocolate fix. Much better for me than a snickers I think! Next up was the Coconut and Agave flavor. I am a big coconut fan and this one is bursting with coconut flavor, but it was a little rich for me, almost reminded me of coconut oil. These bars are a bit high in fat, 17g in the coconut one, 19g in the Hazelnut. But I usually don’t worry so much about that when I am eating real foods.
The calories range from 190 (for the mango which is smaller than the rest of the bars)-280. The bars are very large though, as big as a Clif bar so I think they would make a good meal on the go for sure. I plan to store a couple in my car for when the munchies hit me. I think for the richer ones that remind me more of a dessert I am going to try them broken up in oatmeal. Also, I read on the back of the box that they have 100 calorie versions! Now those I would be all over. You can get these bars at Whole Foods.

Raw Revolution review and giveaway!
Wine anyone?
I am not a wine connoisseur by any means. In fact the few times in my life when I have had a “good” bottle of wine I usually find I like the cheap ones better. My favorite wine to date is a white wine called Conundrum, I had it as part of a tasting flight once and was floored by how tasty it was. However it’s a little pricey for my taste, about $30 a bottle at the grocery, about $50 in a restaurant.
So since I can’t really afford the Conundrum, my go to wine is Blackstone Merlot, only $8-10 at the grocery. Right up my alley! I popped a bottle open this weekend am enjoying another glass tonight. I’m the only wine drinker in the house really so half the time the bottle goes bad. I really should pick up some of those tiny bottles.
What about you bloggy friends? What’s your cheap go to wine? Beer is a whole different story, I loovveee me some microbrews. Come by tomorrow for a fun giveaway contest!
