Since the weather outside is frightful I had to settle for yoga at home today. Nothing wrong with yoga at home, it’s just that I adore the Sunday yoga class at my gym, the teacher is amazing, its very rare that you can get a real yoga workout at the gym. I scrolled through my options from Exercise TV and ended up with this:
Hmmm…oddly enough you don’t even do the that twist during the workout! It was a pretty good DVD, 51 mins, nothing too difficult or new to me. It breaks the workout into segments – cardio and slow burn. During the cardio you go through various vinyasa’s quickly to get the blood flowing and heart rate up, during the slow burn you hold poses longer. I was impressed by how well the instructor explained the moves, very descriptive. Nowhere near as good of a workout as I would have gotten at the gym, but most of that is probably due to a 8 month old hanging on me and a dog at my feet.
After I was done I was starving and was craving some comfort food. I really wanted tuna noodle casserole, but we were out of noodles. So, I threw 1 can of Campbell’s healthy request cream of mushroom soup, 1 can of tuna, 1/2 cup of Uncle Bens Whole grain brown rice and a couple handfuls of organic frozen veggies from Costco into a bowl and microwaved for 5 mins. It turned out wonderful.
I wanted a little something more so I had some of my favorite chips.

Have you ever tried these? They are seriously delicious. So good you don’t even need to dip them in salsa.
Last night Gary and I watched:
I disagree with the headline, it’s no where near funnier than Borat, but it is 115 mins of non stop laughs. Mostly in horror. Lots of penis in this movie people and many, many butt sex jokes. We definitely laughed a lot though. Watching Paula Abdul sit on furnitue that is really mexican dayworkers had me in stitches.
Since it was so short, we also watched
I really liked this movie. It was the right combo of suspence and action. I love me some Denzel. He can do no wrong in my eyes. John Travolta is hit or miss in my opinion. You forget that he is a really good actor b/c he goes and does such shit movies like Old Dogs or Wild Hogs. He did great as the villian in this movie. Two thumbs up. I hear the original is much better, I will have to check it out.
I’ve only been without sugar for a day and I am already missing it. Gary is eating peanut M&Ms, grrrrr.
Yoga Sunday and One pot tuna casserole
4 dangerous, slippery, snowy, wonderful miles
I went out for a 4 miler with Fonzie this afternoon. It was cold and wet and snowy out, but I did it anyway. I didn’t want to, but am so glad I did. It was just one of those really good runs, where you feel strong and fast and like you can keep on going. Since I run with Fonzie I have to stick to the sidewalks which can be kind of dangerous, but luckily today I made it through without falling.
Dinner was simple and yummy. Whole wheat spaghetti with sauce and chopped veggies.
I found this brand of spaghetti sauce at the store one day and it is by far my favorite. I can’t buy another sauce now. Do you have one you really like? This one just tastes really fresh and you can taste the various herbs and veggies in it. If you see it on your shelf I totally recommend it.
While at the store today I picked up this up because I had a coupon. Yum to the ummmmm.
Dairy and I don’t get along, cue fart sound effect. I have never found a soy ice cream that I really like, but this takes the cake for sure. Too bad it’s pricey, but most ice cream is anyway, especially if its organic. Maybe the price will stop me from eating it all in one sitting. Maybe….
And just because:
Wine anyone?
I am not a wine connoisseur by any means. In fact the few times in my life when I have had a “good” bottle of wine I usually find I like the cheap ones better. My favorite wine to date is a white wine called Conundrum, I had it as part of a tasting flight once and was floored by how tasty it was. However it’s a little pricey for my taste, about $30 a bottle at the grocery, about $50 in a restaurant.
So since I can’t really afford the Conundrum, my go to wine is Blackstone Merlot, only $8-10 at the grocery. Right up my alley! I popped a bottle open this weekend am enjoying another glass tonight. I’m the only wine drinker in the house really so half the time the bottle goes bad. I really should pick up some of those tiny bottles.
What about you bloggy friends? What’s your cheap go to wine? Beer is a whole different story, I loovveee me some microbrews. Come by tomorrow for a fun giveaway contest!
Yobaby means yummy & I love yogurt
I was at Whole Food the other day…which is an indulgence, I rarely allow myself to go in there b/c it’s so expensive and I want everything. I was perusing the yogurt. Whole Foods has the most amazing yogurt section and I love to try new yogurts, some of my favorites are Liberte siz grain yogurts. Have you tried there? They literally have 6 different kinds of grains in the yogurt, which sounds weird I know, but it gives it a great texture. My favorite is the pear.
The other yogurt I always pick up at Whole paycheck is Wallaby. The regular yogurt is great b/c it comes in yummy flavors like maple and orange passionfruit. Lately I am digging a newer product they have called Down Under which has pulpy fruit in the bottom to stir in. They also have a delectable dark chocolate one that is enough to kill my sweet tooth. The grapefruit is my other go to flavor.
Anyway as I was perusing the yogurt I came across Yobaby 3 in 1 meals. It is literally yogurt with vegetables and fruit on the bottom! I thought it sounded really gross, but got the green bean/pear flavor. Harper isn’t very good about eating her green veggies, so I thought I’d give it a try. It was a huge success, she scarfed up the whole container and I tried it and it was really good. I might even have it on hand for myself! It can never hurt to get another veggie serving in. At $1.29 it’s a little pricey, but now that I have tried it I can copy it and you better believe I will be hiding Harper’s green beans in yogurt a few times a week!

What are your favorite yogurts?? Check back soon, I will have an exciting giveaway from Raw Revolution in the next few days!
Ode to Trader Joes
There is one thing you should know about me bloggy friends, I love pumpkins and I love pancakes, so when you combine them I am in heaven. Put it next to a cup of Trader Joes wintry blend coffee and I am in a heaven made out of pumpkin and spice. Goooooddddd stuff. So, this is what I had for dinner tonight!
.
When I do an evening run it’s always hard to figure out what to do about dinner. Eat too close to running and risk having rotten gut the whole time. You can do like my friend IG did once and eat curry before she met me to run, those were some fun burps for her I am sure. Yuck. So, I decided a pancake would be gentle enough on the stomach about 1.5 hours before the run and it worked out just fine. IG and I had 4.5 great miles with Fonzie. During dinner prep Harper kept an eye on me and continued to perfect her skills of puff eating:
Now its time to settle in and watch the Biggest Loser finale. Woohoooo!!!!
